Hi, Leroy how are you mate?

I am very well mate! Just coming off fucked up bout of food poisoning, so today all is pretty solid so to speak! haha

Tell me a little bit about where the band is based and what is the metal scene like there?

The metal scene here in Adelaide is strong, a real community vibe with a good mix of older bands and new. We are very a very tight knit scene down here, somewhat of a big extended family and Im happy to say it's probably tighter than I have seen it in the last 5 years.

Your music has a wide variety of styles and sound, how would you best describe your music?

Probably just all over the place, in a good way. We like to experiment, but when we do we usually try and fit other genres in our music. There are a couple of tracks on our new album SONS OF ASENA that we wanted a more folky/ country type vibe, some songs with a real blues feel - but with Double Dragon when we do these things we like to go all out... like in the Lone Wolf for example - to me those verses could be from a country song ( if you take away the choruses ) does that make sense? We are definitely not a technical death metal band by any means, but we do like to push ourselves musically while always trying to keep the music flowing and head-bangable.
What are plans for 2012?

Writing more music, heading overseas in April and hopefully doing another trip round Australia before the year is out. I would love to get back in the studio if possible, but will just have to see if time allows this.

What are your thought on the current metal scene (in general)?

Ive been in this 'scene' for long enough to know its always going to be there. It ebbs and flows as it usually does, but it's never really changed much for me, good people, good music, and some drinks with friends  - that part has never changed and probably never will. The younger bands are definitely of a higher caliber these days, so that will mean good things in the next few years.

Beer or wine?

Well, I would most certainly say wine, because during the day I work in the industry here in South Australia and I am very passionate about the product and the wine regions of the state I live. It is a truly beautiful part of the world and I encourage anyone to come and visit and taste our local produce, its fucking beautiful. But saying that, I'll happily smash a carton of beers with friends any day!!!!!

Brittany Spears or Pamela Anderson (now, not in their prime)?

Oh shit. Pamela's pussy was pretty thrashed on that porno with Tommy years ago, so Im guessing it's seen better days in 2012. Brittney is a bit of a wild one, but seeing my misses is a fan of Pamela, Id have to say Pamela.

If the band was stuck on a desert island, which band member would you kill and eat first?

Well, there wouldn't be that much to eat with Davin and Joshy because they are skin and bone, Liam he is getting pretty buff now so he might be a bit chewy, so id have to say Roady, although he would probably either give me food poisoning or I'd get really fucking high and drunk. So yeah Roady.

Top 5 things about being in a band?

Free beer at shows
Free beer at shows
Free beer at shows
Free beer at shows
and free beers at shows

What CD are you playing in your car at the moment?

Right now its Intronaut's "Valley of Smoke" Its very fucking cool, I highly recommend that one!!

What's the best way for people to find your music?

www.sonsofasena.com or follow me on twitter!! I usually link up everything so that by far is the best way! Its www.twitter.com/liggydd

Double Dragon "Sons Of Asena" Review

Again, I'll say "I'm one of the slackest fuckers when it comes to taking music off the computer and putting it on my phone", but I managed to download this album straight to my phone..SWEET!!

Double Dragon are a five piece metal band out of the unholly depth of South Australia, who provide an interesting mix of old and new styles with their second full length release "Sons Of Asena".

"Sons Of Asena" is a ripping album which opens with a flurry with "Malediction" before settling into a heavy yet very "hooky" middle set with tracks like "Haunted (Treachery and Manipulation)" and "Transfusion", before ending with the moody, black metal meets Down meets........something else?? "Asena",

Double Dragon have given us a great example of what Australian metal has to offer with "Sons Of Asena", no doubt some parts (or sounds) will give you a sense of Deja Vu, but as a whole I hold "Sons Of Asena" in high regard, with it's quality musicianship and equally great production quality.

Stand out tracks for me are "All Hail The Executioner", "Asena" and most of all "The Lone Wolf", but to be hoest I didn't really like "The Lone Wolf" at first but after a couple listens, man, it's a great sounding song!!

Double Dragon have made "Sons Of Asena" free to download but I would urge everyone that likes it to buy a copy or a shirt or atleast to tell your friends, download here DoubleDragonFree

Double Dragon "Transfusion"

Enjoy!
