You know how sometimes you can go months without seeing a live show? and then all of a sudden ((whack)), there is more to see then your eyes can take in!!
This passed weekend was a little like that, it all started on Wednesday with friends flying in from out of state, many beers were had!! On Thursday we hit the city for lunch and more beers, then off to the hotel to drop our shit off. With only a couple of hours left before Slipknot hit the stage, off to the pub we went to catch up with other friends that were also heading to Slipknot for more beers.
We walked out of the pub to find this old dude in an even older car, with a dodgy sign on the side saying "To Slipknot", so in we get for the trip down.
We skipped Trivium (not really a fan) and hit the box office to see if we could get a ticket upgrade from seating to front standing, the dude was awesome and happily gave us some passes.
This was the third time I had seen Slipknot live and they are fucking insane live, lots of pyrotechnics and they Joey's drum kit on the hydrolics. The only downer from the show was this whiner in front of me that was complaining that the crowd was pushing to much and then his girlfriend started yelling at me, haha, to which I replyed "your in a pit! what did you expect?" and security told me to step back, haha.
After Slipknot had left the stage, I hung around looking for the people I had gone with and noticed Bobby "I'm a bad motherfucker" Tongs at the sound desk packing up, so I yell out "hey Bobby" and he looked up and gave me a wave. I thought "cool" and started walking out, then I heard someone yell out to me so I stopped and turned around and Bobby was running over to me. He shook my hand and gave me a Dime guitar pick!! Awesome!!
We left the venue and walked into the city to get something to eat, after about a km we thought "fuck this, let get a cab", so we hail a cab and get in, told the cabbie where to go and off we went. Just before we arrived at our destination, which was closed, "Bob", who was sitting in the front seat, says to the cabbie "instead of cash, can we pay you in robot?" (random) and starts doing robot noises and movements!! (This would have to be one of the funniest things I have ever seen) and the cabbie replied "No, I don't like this".
Needless to say, this was our "catch phase" for the next few days..........anywhere and everywhere!
Fuck it was a good night, good show, good friends and the next day was Soundwave
