Lynchmada to support Cavalera Conspiracy

I got my hand on a couple of tickets to the Cavaerla Conspiracy show in Melbourne in February 2012 (thanks to my wife ;) ) and I was pleasantly surprised to find out Lynchmada will be supporting them.

Australia's own Lynchmada have shared the stage with metal giants such as Lamb Of God, Suicide Silence and Testament, and now can add Cavalera Conspiracy to the list.

Lynchmada released their second full length "To The Earth" earlier this year and from what I have heard of it, it sounds fucking killer (adds another album to shopping list), check out Lynchmada live in a town near you,

So, between now and February, I will get a hold of their album and do a review and after the show I will also tell everyone how the night was, I'm sure it will be an alcohol fueled ragging good time \m/

An ode to fallen friends

I recieved some tragic news today, that a really good friend of a really good friend of mine was tragically killed recently.

I was requested to play this song in honor of Jasmine Barker,

I'm not to sure on the exact circumstances, but Jasmine died in a car accident and it got me to thinking about the amount of peoples lives that have been affected by road fatalities.

Now I'm no angel when it comes to road rules (or life for that matter) but that is all in the past and I was lucky so many people are not so lucky. All I can say is "just take it easy out there and don't do anything stupid".

And on a personal note, this song goes out to all the fallen brothers and sister, I love you all and you are greatly missed,

I once heard someone say "You have to be the change you want to see in the world", be nice and respect each other for your differences and similarities a like, a smile and hello, goes along way sometimes.

R.I.P. Jasmine Barker

The Great Southern Trendkill cover

I seen this clip on FaceBook a couple of months ago and thought it was pretty cool but other people had mixed feelings toward it.

The group are called "The Bailey Hounds" and they do an acoustic cover of Pantera's "The Great Southern Trendkill", check it out

I'm not sure what the other guys from Pantera think of this but I think Dime would have loved it, I could just see him saying "wwwoooo, that was bad ass dude" and pouring a shot because he just seemed like that kind of person. The Bailey Hounds seem to have a genuine respect for Pantera and the song also with the cover being so "acoustic" you can really hear the lyric (read poetic) brilliance of Phil.

I like it, it shows real talent to take a song that is that heavy and fast, and cover it that acoustically without destroying it and looking stupid.

Just for comparisons sake

Pantera "The Great Southern Trendkill"

That do you think? good or bad?

What I've been listening to

I thought I would give a very brief overview of what I have been listening to over the past couple of weeks,

Datura Curse, I honestly can't get enough of these guys at the moment. The only thing I don't like abouth their E.P. "Reasons" is that it is an E.P. Not enough guys, GIVE US MORE!!!.

Datura Curse "Surrounding"

Down, I don't really have to say much about Down axcept "come to Australia!"

Down "On March The Saints"

Frankenbok, crazy Australian thrash heads, I haven't listened to Frankenbok in years and they have changed quite a long from what I remember.

Frankenbok "Dine In Hell"

And, iwrestledabearonce, it's funny how you find new bands, some use Google, some ask friends, me? I ask Twitter. iwrestledabearonce's "Ruining It For Everybody" is definatley on the shooping list (review to come)

iwrestledabearonce "Karate Nipples"

I'm always happy to hear new and exciting music, if you have any recommendations please send them through via FaceBook or Twitter (link at top right hand corner of page)

Kanerko "Delusions Of Grandeur" Review

I have been listening to Kanerko's "Delusions Of Grandeur" for about a week and I find their "heavy rock'n roll" quite easy to throw on and groove away to at anytime of the day.

I like this style of music (from time to time) due to the fact you can hear the drummer skitzing out with lightning rolls, groovy easy to follow riffs and great solos.

Kanerko remind me (somewhat) of StoneSour with out the harsh vocals, speaking of vocals, if you like heavy, constant growls then Kanerko are not for you! but if you like clean, understandable, meaning full vocals then Kanerko should be on your "to do" list.

Kanerko have a great sound, something that is very catchy that I'm sure ALOT of people will like but with hints of metal in there just to keep the pop rock crowd guessing, I only hope thy don't go all pop and lose their edge because they have some true great elements that would be a shame to lose.

As with E.P.'s it's hard to pick top tracks, all I can say is that they are equally great in different ways with different element..............except for "Sueno", a Spanish version of "Sleep" and while "Sleep" is a good song, having the Spanish version on there as well is a little to "Ricky Martin" for my liking (not the language, the covering your own song in a different language).

Kanerko can be found at http://www.kanerko.com/ or check them out on Twitter @Kanerko and FaceBook KanerkoFB .

Phil Anselmo

Having grown up in the 90's, Pantera was a huge influence on me and for me personally Phil Anselmo was the "rock star" that I looked up to, even through the drug abuse.

I shaved my head and made out I was alot tougher than I was (the expression "don't give a fuck" applied heavily), during my teen year when life was "tough" (I had loving parents and a good home) but teen years are teen years! My parents divorced when I was 13 and the older I get, the more profound impact that made on my life becomes clearer, music was the one thing that never betrayed me!! It was always there and didn't judge!! Good friends came and went (bar a few "Sut" and "Jacko") but music remained true, from my point of view.

One of the greatest regrets I have was not seeing Pantera live when I had the chance and with the death of Dime, that will never happen now, but with Down, through the years and with no doubt the support of his fellow band members Phil Anselmo seems to be on the up and up, if you have not seen the clip check this out!

Phil Anselmo's whole image was had huge impact on me! I hated grunge and any hippy shit!!! I was all about hard, real shit, so when Pantera released "the great southern trendkill" I lost my fucking mind and to this day that is the Pantera album that I like the most, even thought the issues the band were going throught at the time I didn't about and didn't really care.

If there was one metal personality that I was really like to meet or interview it would be Phil Anselmo, just to make a thirty(somethings) dream come true, some people dream of meeting James Hetfield or Rob Halford but not me.

No one could ever take Dime's place (Zakk could play the music but...he's not Dime) and with Rex's health not real good and Vinnie doing "Hell Yeah" (or Hell No as I like to call them) I just thank my lucky stars that Pantera didn't get old and do a "LULU" album (WFT!!)

Raise a glass fuckers!!

Krokmiten "Alpha-Beta" review

Krokmiten are an experimental death metal band from Canada who have taken an ambitious step while recording their full length debut "Alpha-Beta". They have recorded only one song! One 45 minute, blistering assault!!

Did they pull this off? Hell yeah!

"Alpha-Beta" is jam packed full of tempo changes with a mixture of tradtional metal riff work with blistering speed metal and drums that could cause an epileptic fit!! The vocals? Pure brutal goodness, particularly in the final few minutes (more on that later).

At times it is hard to find 45 minutes to sit and listen to one song but "Alpha-Beta" is a great driving album, I like to have something heavy as fuck playing while trying to deal with traffic at the end of the day and this does the trick perfectly!

As far as picking "top tracks" go, this one is a bit hard, so I chose a "top section", particulary for the vocals (as mentioned above) these are some of the most brutally good vocals I have heard in a while.

Krokmiten "4/4"

Krokmiten have made "Alpha-Beta" (audio and video) available downloadable for free from their site http://www.krokmiten.com/ or check them out on FaceBook and Twitter.

If you like the album, maybe even support the band and buy a copy!!

Mr Krille from Another Hell talks beaches, beers and Evil Dead

Hi Krille,

Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to thrash talk!

Have you or the band ever been to Australia? What do you like think about Australia?

Sadly no one from the AH family has been to Australia but there is a lot of
places I would like to see down under, towns, beaches, animals and people like yourself.

How would you best describe you style of music?

When mixing groove thrash death and punk with some melodic shit then it's close to
what the AH style is all about.
But I think it's more to it then that!
When I think about it,  we have not gotten band labeled telling us we sound like that or this band.
People has described us as a groove metal band with Devil Driver-esque tones mixed
with Machine-Head even putting us in the death ´n roll genre.
The esque  and Machine-Head part I think is the only time I've seen another band mentioned in
the same breath as Another Hell.

As a band you cover some very strong topics, lyrically. What's the
message you are trying to get a cross?

Yeah we all feel some strong shit about how the world keeps turning the
wrong way. I´m more of a crazy idealist then my lads so in AH we have settled for a
message thats close to all of our hearts and that is over consumption, greed,
welfare, environment and modern slavery!
Shit I know we ain't gonna change the world, but if we just make one person wake up then our mission is a success!

Who were you musical hero's, as a kid?

It think it was fucking Elvis that first opened my eyes for rock at a very
young age and then through Sabbath and the other 70's rockers I found
Mr James Hetfield and that dude has created some of the worlds
greatest and mind blowing  riffs. So there ya have it!

What's the band doing at the moment?

Shit we are at the beginning of our LP production so now everything is fun
and happy times (all people that makes music know this shit ain't gonna last).
Writing and composing and soon we will make some pre-tracks to start and
analyze the new red thread in this AH production. It's always fun at the beginning of
a production but in the end everyone are kinda fed up with the tracks and shit.

What w ould you be doing if you were not in a band?

Hopefully the same I´m doing right now, uphold and better the working
conditions to workers. You gotta guess the rest \m/

Who's the funniest band member?

Haha they are so fucking funny all of them!
If I have to choose one of them (I rather not but I will)
then it´s Samu, we grew up together and share the same fucked
up humor. Jim and Olof is truly on the same fucked up page and are as full of
it, so anyone of them really could be the funniest one!

Beer or wine?

I´m a sucker for real dark beer, and the only good thing that's a result
from religion has to be Trappist beer!

Who's your favorite horror movie character?

Ashley 'Ash' J. Williams - Evil Dead, what a fucking hero!
Just writing this makes me wanna seem all again.
- Someone's in my fruit cellar, someone with a fresh soul!!
Can ya dig it!!

What's the best way for people to find your music?

Well Spotify and iTunes are pretty big stuff and it's all there.
Our latest release Capitol Hill is not on there yet
but it will be soon. On our web page all brute-heads can stream all of our

Any message for the masses?

If you live amongst the masses, use the power of the masses and start
changing the world!
Stay Brutal!
/Krille - Another Hell

If you would like to find out more about the band or would like to hear their music check out http://www.anotherhell.se/ their FaceBook page http://www.facebook.com/anotherhellswe?ref=ts or follow them on Twitter @AnotherHellswe .

I would like to thank Krille and the whole Another Hell crew for taking the time to talk to me and I hope to see them out here on tour sometime, sooner rather than later.

Remember, support the new bands!

Another Hell "Drowning In Dirt" Review

What is "groove metal"? Well, I believe it's a term that stems from the early Pantera days, when they called their style "power groove"!

"Groove metal" is something that Another Hell launch by the ton on their debut EP "Drowning In Dirt".

This album is unashamably metal, great big, heavy riffs, a chugging bass, heavy all round drum and "Krille's" vocals that are at time very reminicent of Dez Fafara, all mix to create a very catchy, yet unique sound.

"Redemption" and "Face The Consequences" have a uniquely "urgent" tone to the main riff which I found myself walking around replaying over and over again in my head, while "Last Chocking Breath" and "Watch It All Burn" are pure "groove metal".

"Drowning In Dirt" is a great effort and I hope a beginning of some big things to come, if you like your metal with plenty of soul, groove and a big hook with a real message in the song writing, then Another Hell is for you.

Check out Another Hell on reverbnation here, http://www.reverbnation.com/#!/anotherhell .

The message in the writing? you ask. I'll let Krille explain later in the week!!

What make a good metal video??

To answer my own question, I think it has to have some form of insanity but I guess it also depends on the style of metal.

Could you image Pantera's "Domination" to this clip??

Or Lamb Of God's "Ruin" to this one??

haha, a couple of good clips there! but my favorite clip would have to be this........

Cradle Of Filth "Babylon AD (so glad for the madness)"

Back when COF were making good music, I'm sure there are some great other clips out there so tell me what I'm missing.

I might even have a prize for the best clip??????? head to my FaceBook page,"like" it and upload your suggestion. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Metal-dad-australiA/202866413100917

PO and Jorgen from Sanity Of Impiety answer some questions!!!

Earlier on in the week I did a review for Swedish metallers Sanity of impiety, now the guys have taken the time to answer a few questions for me.

Have you or the band ever been to Australia? What you you like/think about Australia?

No we havent been to Australia yet.
Accually we don't know that much about Australia except, that it's a country in the Southern hemisphere comprising the mainland of the Australian continent,
the island of Tasmania, and numerous smaller islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is the world's sixth-largest country by total area. Neighbouring countries include Indonesia, East Timor, and Papua New Guinea to the north; the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, and New Caledonia to the north-east; and New Zealand to the south-east. That's about it...
Would we like to go there? Hellyah and hopefully someday we will!

How would you best describe you style of music?

We like to say that we play melodic death metal except we don't have any musical boundaries. We can switch from a raging blast-beat and a melodic part and then back again.
Everyone seems to find different influences when listening to our music. So the best one's to describe our music is the lisnteners.

What's the band doing at the moment?

At the moment we are in writing mode. We are just about ready to hit the studio again to record a new EP. Which is going to be released on vinyl only.
Our first EP is going to be released on vinyl as well though Inside The Grave Records later this year.

What the craziest thing you have seen at a live show?

The craziest thing we have ever witnessed on a liveshow was in 2010 when we were touring with our other band Daemonicus in eastern Europe.
We played in a town called Galati in Romania, and the stage was just unbarable small. So we went down and played most of the set amongst the crowd in the middle of the mosh pit.
Some of the fans went out in the blistering cold and came back with snow and it was like a snowballfight as the set went on. It was funny as hell.

Who did you look up to, musically, as a kid?

Probably the same as every other metalhead growing up in the 80's and 90's. Bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Kiss. Those bands still kicks ass! Except for Metallica.. They should have stayed in the 80's

Who's the most annoying member of the band?

To be honest we are all mental in one way or another.

What CD is in you car at the moment?

Playing in the car right now is accually the brand new Daemonicus album. Which just left the mixer and has'nt been released yet.

What's the one thing you could not live without?

Once again like every other metalhead, We would not be able to live without music. It's that easy.

Angela Gassow or Amy Lee?

Angela Gossow in everyway possible.

What's the best way for people to find your music?

The best way to get a hold of our music is through different torrent sites, and of course our myspace (www.myspace.com/sanityofimpiety) or the homepage (www.sanityofimpiety.se)
If you would like to have the original album in either CD or LP version, you need to contact us and we'll arrange something. You can reach us here sanityofimpiety@hotmail.com

Any message for the masses?

Make sure to check out our first release In Life We Despise and stay tuned for more brutality coming your way. Hopefully we will be able to come to Australia in the near future.
If it's insane to question religion, then Sanity of Impiety pleeds insanity.

If you would like to know more about the band or would like to hear their music, check out http://www.sanityofimpiety.se/ or http://www.facebook.com/pages/Sanity-of-Impiety/115640245159933?ref=ts or send them a message on Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/sanityofimpiety .

I would like to thank PO and Jorgen for taking the time to talk to me and I hope to see them in Australia sometime soon!

Adrian \m/

Sanity Of Impiety "In Life We Despise" review

I have had Sanity Of Impiety's debut EP "In Life We Despise" for the last couple of weeks and it's a great effort but like most EP's, by the time your really getting into it, it's over.

I would have to describe Sanity Of Impiety's style as heavy metal, straight up. Heavy, thrash style guitars and brutal growls mixed with clean vocals.

Sanity Of Impiety have not recreated the wheel with this EP, what they done though is make an EP full to the brim of great music. It's heavy and fast at times and slow and mellow at others, the guys have an ear for making music with well timed tempo changes and solos and at times the music feels like it's taking you on a journey.

"In Life We Despise" really will wet your appetite for more and hopefully a full length album is in the near future.

If you go to the official website http://www.sanityofimpiety.se/ you can listen to the EP.
